An excerpt from wiki: Actually my last two cars has ABS on it, previously I had only cars without ABS. I have very bad experiences with ABS on both cars, sometimes it feels like driving on ice although it is summer time and the road surface is dry. It happens mostly when the surface is not even, so the car gets some vibrations while braking. Then I have little or no control over the car, just hoping that it will stop -- even if I release the pedal for a fraction of second and press it again. I wish the ABS could be switched off completely as it just extends the distance I can stop. So I have different experiences than what wikipedia says, for me it increases the stopping distance on dry surface.
