Oh,  I'm very happy if these few informations can be useful ..(however this 
project don't seems to me so "easy", but my khowledge on these arguments is 
very low).  Searching on the web, I observe that there are many links 
related to the "heartbeat" detector only (not ECG), one of these is this old 
article by Jeff Bachiochi on Circuit Cellar :

I found it  few years ago searching  for TSL230 sensor to use in a 
fluorometer project,  but I see it is good only for other uses!
