Do you mean you are only turning the FET on with 5V on the gate?  I haven't
looked at your schematic nor looked up the datasheets for the FETs, but at
those volage and current ratings that is most likely inadequate.  What does
the datasheet say for gate drive voltage?

Obviously something is dropping considerable voltage.  That something will
get hot after a few seconds at stall, so it will be easy to identify.  The
FETs with insufficient drive voltage are the obvious first thing to check.
