Cooperative.  Preemptive multitasking is a large can of worms that is rarely
appropriate to open on small embedded systems.  In over 100 PIC projects I
have yet to encounter one where preemptive multitasking would have been a
good idea.  I have use cooperative multitasking a bunch of times, usually
for handling input streams.
