Can anyone recommend an alternative ICQ client? I mean the software, not the 
service.

I had to install the standard ICQ client recently, and hate it with a 
passion. The animated ads slow down my remote desktop connection, the 
interface is designed for the 3-7 y.o. target audience, and it hijacked the 
Ctrl-Shift-I shortcut key ("unindent" in MPLAB).

I know there are tons of alternatives out there. Please only recommend a 
client that you (or someone you know) used and liked.
