First off, any obfuscation is quite annoying. Second, most bots are programmed to "see through" any sort of common obfuscation. Third, unless some sort of "random" obfuscation was done anybody on this list could reprogram a bot to deal with it in about 2 seconds. Fourth, assuming some sort of random obfuscation, and considering how "weird" some people's email addresses are, "real" people would have alot of trouble figuring out what was the obfuscation and what wasn't. Case in point, my email address starts with mailinglist4, is the 4 part of the address or part of the obfuscation? Most would guess the latter, while the former is correct. Fifth, it's so easy to get an address (be it gmail or whatever) with good spam filtering, I don't see the point in complicating matters.
