I personally don't like the idea of no "from" address, for the reasons
listed here.

Frankly Olin: you are posting to a PUBLIC email list, why would you
expect any sort of privacy? Do you expect any privacy when you post
something on a bulletin board? The piclist can be considered the same
venue.
