I was hoping to avoid an external special charger for a couple of reasons. 1) I wanted these packs to be functionally identical to the factory packs. That makes things easier when they go out on a job site and someone wants to charge the packs with the charger associated with someone else's unit. 2) Both of these packs should be able to be charged from a vehicle cigarette-lighter socket. However, that is certainly my last resort and I'll keep it in mind.
