I used C++ to do the interface with Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) with Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0. The express edition (free now) does not include MFC so it makes it more painful. Years ago they had a learning edition for $49 that had all the GUI creation toys included. I was really disapointed with the free version they put out.
