Hi, Datasheet for MCP41010 and similars: http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/11195c.pdf Maybe you had a different one? It says Va and Vb range is from 0 to Vdd and Vdd range is from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, so Va and Vb maximum voltage is 5,5 V assuming the same voltage to Vdd. I have some samples of digital pots from MC, but never used them.
