Here's a little update. I just managed to try Windows Remote Desktop today. It worked...but only sort of. It seems to have some issue when I send characters from a USB HID device I made. The characters appear ok, but the shift status seems to only be correct about 25% of the time. This is a bit of a problem as the program I'm controlling is case sensitive. I was a bit surprised, but when I switched out of the Remote Desktop viewer and into notepad my device was sending the correct commands. So...now I guess I'll try a VNC to see how that goes. Is there really any difference between TightVNC and UltraVNC? Anyone have any experience with a Win7 viewer? Thanks!
