Hi, I use CopyTo Synchronizer: for a very similar purpose. All my development work, email, pictures, etc. are in several directories on a USB drive on my main desktop, and I use copyto sync to keep them in sync with a copy on my laptop. So I can take everything on the road and if I make changes, sync them back. $15. Some quirks but worth it. Gives you a (optional) preview of what it is going to do before it does it so you can check that it is doing what you think it will.
