Hi, list. As part of my backup rituals, I copy three times a week the content of my main computer's hard disk (just a few really important directories, not the whole disk) to another same capacity disk in a computer connected to the LAN. Both run Windows (XP and 7 respectively), it is about 450 GB of data. I ussually keep manual control (in an excel spreadsheet) of the new needed to copy files to avoid copying the whole thing every time. I know this is an arcaic method but I do this as I am reluctant to use any extra software to make the incremental backups and there are not too much changes so there is not too much to do. But I have realized that my weak link is in the spreadsheet and if I, for any reason loose it before doing the copies then I could get in trouble and have to copy the whole thing (which in my gigabit lan takes around 220 minute, I think...). Before dipping into a propietary or open source application for backing up, I think I would like to keep using my system but I think I need a software which coul be used to compare the content of both hard drives (the local and the networked backup) and tell me if there is any file missing in the backup. This should run on Windows. Does anything like that exists? Thanks in advance for your time and help.
