You gennerally want to run your SX program at the slowest speed for stability reasons and only go to 50 MHz if your application is just too slow. 20 MHz works great for most of my applications. I have only had to use a 50 MHz resonator a couple of times where I used alot of processing power for a dual LED matrix display (e.g. 128 x 32 bi-color).
