:: ! don't mind buying a C complier (up to $500 or so), but the choice :: out :: there is confusing. Can anyone point me to a recent discussion of :: the :: various merits of each? Well that'll start the flame wars! :-) I can't help you with a recent discussion all I can say is I use FED-c (PIC16/18). I'm tempted by CCS products, though if I had the money I would be tempted towards Hitech-C. Within your budget, CCS and FED-c would be fine. The only thing that makes me feel uneasy about CCS products is the way most functions seem to be inbuilt, even after reading the manual I'm not sure if I could ignore the built in functions and just go with my own. As you know I'm not that far from you, so i could always sling you last years version of FED-C if you wanted to try it out. Dontronics sells both products.
