Updates can take seconds What sort of resolution are you after? As far as I know, this is NOT the sort of market that "digital paper" is currently addressing. Aside from the Esquire e-paper cover demo, most e-ink displays are aiming at actual high-resolution paper replacement, where the electronics and electrodes are significantly complex compared to the supposedly mass-producible display material itself. I'm not actually aware of any "very large display area" technologies; aside from macroscopic magnetic things, and assorted projection and/or lamp/led- based things...
