But check the errata extra carefully.  That part seems to be a real problem
for Microchip.  It has had a parade of strange and unusual things wrong with
it.  This is a part I stay away from.

The 16F88, 16F648A, and a few others have a good history of being solid
parts and use the same footprint.  Unless you really really need the extra
oomph of a PIC 18, those are better and probably cheaper choices.
