A fairly new cheap PIC with uart built in is the 16f722 - Under $1 in volume, and digikey has them for $1.66 (SOIC) and $1.96 (DIP) in quantities of 1. It has more pins than you probably need (28), though, so the next good choice has already been mentioned and is the 16f688 (14 pins) for $1.88 and $2.08 (SOIC and DIP) at digikey in quantities of one. -Adam On Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 4:40 PM, uaca man wrote: > In my plan of word domination the first goal was to make a led flash on a > 12F629 and with help from you guys the led is flashing =A0and so I pass o= n to > the second goal: serial communication. > > Software USART did not work at all on the 12F629 and it looks like will be > very hard to make it work. > > The choice of using the 12F629 was only on price and for some insane reas= on > I was thinking that serial communication would be a piece of cake, now I > believe that a chip with hardware USART will be a better choice and so I = ask > for help again. > > What PIC should I buy? > > The sales man says that 12F675, 12F509 and 12F683 all have hardware USART > but I did not find any mention of it in the datasheet. > > Any recommendation of PIC model with hardware USART will be greatly > appreciated. > > > > Uaca > -- > http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive > View/change your membership options at > http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist > -- = http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
