My wife and I are going on a 3 week, probably overly busy Asian holiday
leaving August 28th.
No - we are not rich - just getting old enough that 'use it or lose it' is
an exponentially increasing threat.

1.  As usual, if anyone wants to receive newsletters and some photos plase
advise as per below.
Will probably try to post photos to a website as we ravel. We'll see.
Hope to have HP netbook (320 GB drive, XPPro - almost real)(slow). Also new
camera from Hong Kong mayhaps. Probably Sony Alpha 700 - essentially
obsolete model - but happens to be the best camera Sony make - while they
get their act together with rumoured new models (A500, A550, A850). A900 is
a dog by my standards - marvellous resolution and no high ISO ability.

Current plans are

- Hong Kong to September 1st (only 3 whole days).
(29, 30-1, 2)

- Cross to GuangZhou and fly to Guilin.
Langshuo, Li River, Longsheng terraces are of interest.
ONLY 2 whole days plus 2 part days here.
Enough to see key sights. much more not seen.
(2, 3-4,5)

Train to Nanning and then overnight to Vietnam (Hanoi).
(5,6)

- Hanoi area till 10 September.
(6, 7-9, 10)

- Singapore for a while.
*10, 11-15, 16)

QUESTION:

HK we know.
Guilin we've only read of.
Hanoi ditto.
Singapore I somewhat know.

If anyone has visited Guilin area it would be good to hear.
Advice?
I want to see the Dragon's back terraced hillsides.
Val wants to see the Li river (my camera wants to see Cormorant fishing)

Hanoi.
Hulong Bay in a day - theytell me you can see the highlights OK !.
COULD stay and make it 2 - but time in Vietnam is v short.

Thoughts?

Yes, we know it's rushed.
Will need a holiday when we get back.
