I have finally completed tracing out this GLCD module and now have a 3 sheet schematic. If anyone finds such a module (HG12628F-DYO-01) and hate to see them go to waste, I can supply a pdf version of the schematic or if your CAD software can read XML, I can send the raw XML files. There are some gaps, there are 2 pins on the unknown uC which don't seem to be used (removing the chip will solve that one), same as there are two pins on a header that disappear under the LCD itself but have about 600 ohms resistance to ground and 1k8 to Vdd, but don't have anything to do with the actual LCD side of things at all. There is also the mystery of the dual flip flop, one doesn't seem to have any input, (the two hex inverters on the D input just have resistors to Vdd with the input to the first inverter seemingly unconnected.) but Q goes to the uC and the other one has microswitches on the input, a clock provided by the I2C from the uC and yet the output disappears into thin air. The paper sense opto I imagine should go to the uC, but may go to the main CPU board, as apart from LED/Photodiode biasing nothing else seems to connect to it. From the datasheet I'm a little unclear as to whether the column driver KS0107b produces Vee for the segment driver KS0108b, and a little puzzled by a NPN transistor that has a feed called Nt2V on the collector, with the emitter attaching directly to Vee of the segment driver. Other than that I only have to remove the uC, write some driver code for my Pic24, and hopefully I've got two GLCD modules to use.
