I have two front panel graphics LCD modules (made by Hyundai) from a Tektroniks/Xerox 8200 phaser (HG12628). I'm toying with the idea of using them in a project or two and am painstakingly tracking components on the board. I wonder if anyone has any idea what microcontroller has been used. It is obviously masked to Tektronix specifications, and I think is controlled via an I2C interface. I'm either going to see if I can work out how to talk to the thing, or just wire a Pic in it's place. The uC is a 44 pin PLCC uses an 8MHz crystal has 5 pins connected directly to VDD and 8 to VSS/GND. crystal is on pins 5 and 6. Only markings on the uC are AMI 9918nwk and then the Tektroniks part number. This must be one of the few modules where details have yet to leak onto the internet :( . I'm suspecting this might be a Motorola part or some sort of 805x variant. The LCD drivers are 2 x SEC KS0108B's and KS0107 - I have the data sheet for these. Now why they have a flip flop whose clock pin is permanently wired high is my next bit of detective work, and no, it doesn't seem to connect to any other component that might bring it low.
