The main point of "contention" seems to be over whether C's weaker  
points are a result of "ignorant laziness" or "brilliant  
simplification" (to overstate both sides!)

The resulting discussion on the side effects of the result realities  
has been pretty interesting, and as long as people are insulting  
languages and their developers rather than each other, there doesn't  
seem to be the usual motivation to stop...
