Yes, it does output LCD segments instead of something sensible. Similar to the Radio Shack meter, but not compatible. There's 14 bytes of data, I think the Radio Shack has 9. I have the Radio Shack meter too. They're pretty similar, it wouldn't surprise me if they were the same chipset with slightly different strappings.
