Yeah, I've heard people whine about plugin breadboards a lot here too, but I use them routinely with no problem, including 20MHz PIC crystals. You have to know what you're doing and understand the limitations of course, but that's no different than with any other method. My ReadyBoard series (http://www.embedinc.com/products) includes a breadboard area deliberately like the plugin breadboards because I think its a useful layout for circuits unknown at the time the board is made.
