As long as people only look at the language (programmer's view), they're missing the bigger picture -- the part of it that makes or doesn't make a language successful. C isn't successful in all areas. It probably was the first language for server-side creation of dynamic content for web sites, but it has been replaced by PHP, Perl, Java, Ruby, ASP.
