We had similar problems when we first got ADSL. Eventually after multiple complaints Telecom manged to find a crossed pair in out cable. All fixed. But prior to the fix they claimed to have tested the cables several times and all was reported well. As for time of day, I guess in our case it corresponded with interfering traffic. And yes, many routers have the capability to have thier MAC addresses changed. Or you may be able to put the =A8good" router in bridge mode and run the=A8bad=A8 one off it.
