It does not make all the differences after all, but I think it is more
'elegant' :

         movlw     b'00000000'
         movwf     GPIO                ;turn off GPIO
bit 5
          goto      $   ; this is an endless loop...
         end

or even like this:

         movlw     b'00000000'
         movwf     GPIO                ;turn off GPIO
bit 5
         sleep
          goto      $-1   ; this is an endless loop with power saving...
          end
