>> >> > Does "racking a circuit breaker" mean turning it off? > Do you really have to be far away from it if it's inside a metal box? > - "Racking" a circuit breaker is the process of installing or removing it from the "cubicle". On some sites this is done very rarely (maybe less than once/year) on other sites it may be done more than once a day as a part of the site safety procedures when maintaining some piece of equipment. Some of this equipment is running 15kV at 3000A. When something bad happens, several pounds of copper turns from solid to vapor in a few milliseconds. Metal box or no, I don't want to stand next to it. And some equipment requires the door to be open while racking. -Denny -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
