A ball bearing moved in a cross-shaped enclosure. The bottom of this enclosure was a cross- shaped piece of copper. This was the common terminal. At the end of each arm was a copper terminal. The ball bearing shorted the common to a terminal, depending on which way the joystick was tilted. The other project was a ball bearing clock.
