I tried a few times to buy Luminary Micro's ARM (28 pin dip) to play around, but wasn't bothered enough. There were some nice designs in Circuit Cellar constest a few years ago. Googled and found this http://www.luminarymicro.com/about_luminary/microchip_lawsuit_faq.html "On April 10, 2006, Microchip (MCHP) filed a lawsuit against Luminary Micro (6) claiming that Luminary Micro's 28-pin StellarisR series of ARMR CortexT-M3 32-bit microcontrollers infringe three of Microchip's patents." The lawsuit is about : 'Microcontroller having an n-bit data bus width with less than n I/O pins' etc and therefore only against the 28pin range. Interesting page. Lawyers.
