And very much neglected unfortunately. Tidying it up is something I
think I should do when I've time. Then forget. Then remember when
I'm busy. So it never gets done. Hmmm, maybe that's something I
could do when I have time ......

Re the OP's LED matrix

It would be helpful to know what format or dimensions he would
like the matrix. For example 10x10 ? A text area and a graphics
area ?

The one I linked to, and most small boards would be like it, couldn't
do proper animated graphics with the shown drive lines. It's really
made for general scrolling effects. A larger PIC with more I/O though
could be used with the LEDs split into two areas. For example one for
text, scrolled or otherwise, and another for animations
