It's not a CAN thing, but a transmission line thing. The theory behind this is too much to explain in a short email. There must be loads about it out there. Search for things like "transmission line", "characteristic impedence" and "terminate". In practise this means you need to put a resistor at each end of a transmission line. The resistor value should match the characteristic impedence of the transmission line.
