This is a website I frequently refer to regarding the CAN specification:

You essentially need just three wires - CAN High and CAN Low in a  
twisted pair, and Ground.  High noise may require shielding.   
Termination is via a 120 ohm resistor, though in the case of National  
Instruments equipment I've worked with in the past, that resistor was  
inclusive in the interface.
