Both failed FWIW, cisco has a long history of hiring contractors "in house" (full time, work at the cisco site) for extended periods of time, and I think it has worked out well for us. In some cases, people have been hired as regular employees; in other cases not (of the people I know, most of the successful "not" cases have been because the contractor didn't want to give up the "contractor" status for a "possibly flakey startup.")
