Me too, I met plenty of 'Solarwinds' when a part of my job was to mentor university students on their work experience month (or six if I liked them and could persuade them to stay a while). A couple went on to be inspired engineers because they took pleasure in the subject and had 'the knack' but most were just there because they'd been told it was a career that would earn them a good salary and had little to no interest in the subject beyond what they needed to gain employment. As a result, for the past 18 years I've not believed in certificates of education as proof of ability, far too easy to obtain without actually caring about your subject but HR departments make it difficult to see beyond the paperwork for any company unlucky enough to be cursed with one that has involvement in tech hiring. >Vitaliy -- Clint Sharp -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
