In this view, the coin is mostly in focus, while most of the board isn't: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/images/products/08473-03-L.jpg The truth is, getting a good depth of field in this sort of photography is not easy, and you really have to understand a thing or two about how cameras work. We ended up shelling out several hundred bucks for a macro lens, so the cables we were taking pictures of, would look sharp *and* be in focus.
