I would suggest that you post your problem to the Microchip Forum, if you 
haven't already done so, with your simple test code. I have a suspicion that 
problems posted there may get seen by the behind-the-scenes people more 
readily than something just sent to support.

Not something I have definite experience with, just a hunch from answers I 
have seen, where it is evident that a posted problem has gone deep into the 
organisation.
