I had SuSe 11 and decided to upgrade to 11.1 install went fine, even managed to not overwrite the Vista BCD that is on the same laptop. SuSe is 'weird' in that by default it auto logs a user in - probably to grab Windows users. I changed the log in to be, well by login and have had the following problem ever since. I get the SuSe splash screen and the user login box, enter my details and either of the following happen. 1. Logs in and screen goes black error message box pops up "Cannot initialise Plasma" and that is it, or, 2. Login screen just hangsand system needs a reboot. However, I can log in as Root and then start a new session and log in to my user account from there - weird! I thought a config file might be corrupted, so I deleted my user name and set up a new user - although the old user files are deleted, it still appears as a choice in the log in screen - my main beef though is that I can't log straight into my user account. Any 'nix/Linux guru's here have any idea what I should tinker with to get this going?
