It's about the same for me. When I first switched to blades I had to
change them more often. I believe the reason was simply that my skin was
more sensitive since it had only been "exposed" to electric razors.

After a few weeks I found I could let a blade go for MUCH longer. My
hair is pretty tough, yet I can still go months before having to change
a blade. FWIW I use one of those new fangled 5 blade dealies, only
reason being they were on sale at costco... :)
