Hi guys,
I'm looking for an IC with integrated H-bridge and some smarts to drive
some 24V DC (brush type) motors. I did a prototype with the Allegro
A3949 & A3950 parts which worked well. Now the client has moved the goal
posts on us. The motor they want to use now draws approx 3.5 Amps at
full load. The chip also needs to be able to handle the motor being
stalled for short periods. (until I sense the increase in current and
shut it off - a few 100 ms)

I've been scouring the usual semi companies and parts suppliers, but am
yet to find something that doesn't use external  FETs or cost an arm and
a leg. Has anyone else been down that road? I'd rather the all in one
chip solution as they seem to be better at being fault tolerant. Maybe
there are motor controller / output pack chip sets that I haven't seen yet?
