We are putting aside some money for a PC-based oscilloscope, which needs to have one basic requirement: record long waveforms (several seconds to infinity) with a resolution of about 1 us (higher is better). I have a Tektronix TDS 2014 on my desk, and it's a reasonably good scope, but even though it has a high sampling rate, it cannot record long waveforms. So I have to zoom out, record a waveform, zoom in on the region of interest, and hope that the next time I single sequence, the waveform would fall in the same spot. Ideally, it would be nice if the bundled software could be set up as a protocol analyzer, but that is not a requirement. All suggestions are appreciated.
