Hmm... another analogy. (Let's for a moment abstain from the question
whether or not Outlook Express is a standard and just assume it is.) So
one could also say "People use C. Whether you like it or not, it's a
defacto standard. Get over it." (See the other thread about how C is
insufficient as programming language, in a way similar to how you claim
Outlook Express is insufficient as mailing client.) It's hard to believe
you don't notice the irony...


But, getting back to the mailing issue about the broken headers, I'm
reasonably certain that it's not Outlook Express that is broken. You're
not the only one to use Outlook Express; e.g. Vitaliy also uses it. But
the emails of the other people that use it (on this list and elsewhere)
thread correctly -- only yours don't. (Well, some of yours do, I get to
that in a second.)

The problem is the same old where we have been before: your mail setup
seems to not be able to handle long lines, and the References header
that your own Outlook Express generates (or receives) seem to be too
long for your mail setup -- so they are truncated. 

Here is such a truncated References header from one of your emails (one
long line of course, that's how they come). Probably you won't see it
(as it probably will get truncated by your setup -- you can always look
at it in an archive if you're interested :), but others will:

So you defend your non-standard mail setup, saying that it doesn't have
to be able to handle long lines because people shouldn't use long lines,
but long References headers are a fact of life and it's only your custom
setup that's not capable of handling them, that is, of participating in
a civilized manner in a threaded discussion.

Funny thing is, these References headers are created by the same Outlook
Express (among others) that you defend as being "defacto standard".
Well, according to your own words, "get over it", accept it as the
"defacto standard" and make your email setup finally compliant to what
you call "standard". (Again, it's hard to believe you don't notice the
irony...)

FWIW, and to my knowledge, you are the only frequent poster who insists
in posting emails with broken headers. (Not all of your emails have a
broken References header, though; if it's short enough, it seems to go
through normally.) 

Staying close to the facts does good to any discussion, including this
one. Even if the facts may need a bit of thinking, or research, or even
(oh my gosh!) capability to self-critique. You remind others often
enough of this.
