In SX Microcontrollers, SX/B Compiler and SX-Key Tool, ringlord wrote: Capt. Quirk-- Actually, I do not know the answer because I have never been able to figure out if the Stamps and the SX are scalar or sub-scalar processors. If they are scalar, the answer is easy; the clock ticks and an instruction is executed. If they are sub-scalar, the answer may well be impossible to determine other than in a general way such as the Pentium is faster than the 486 (although I THINK they are both super-scalar processors). I am just looking for a "feel good" answer. Is the SX faster than the fastest Stamp? I am not looking for an in-depth analysis involving the instructions executed. I like the SX very much and will doubtless use it due to its interrupt structure. That feature alone places it head and shoulders above any Stamp. Can you, or anyone, say something about their relative speeds as poorly as I have defined the question?
