I told Charles that I investigated Olin's environment and dismissed it because I wanted MPLab integration, not 'DOS' programs. I never said one was better than the other. I also never criticised the environment for being the way it is. In fairness, I thought I was very objective in my evaluation of Olin's pic environment.... Olin took exception but only on the fact that I said DOS instead of commandline. I am fully aware of the advantages provided by CLI as well as GUI applications, and have spent many hours integrating the two together where it makes sense. The point is that it is not integrated with MPLAB, by Olin's admission and insistence. I wanted a MPLAB environment (TV), the fact that I compared it to DOS (the fridge) instead of 'Command line' (the freezer) is inconsequential in the scheme of things. It is highly unlikely that Charles was mislead in any significant way, and further, Olin corrected whatever small misconception there may be. The point is that he is beating an already flogged horse and gnawing at the carcass like a hyena. If you want to join him at the carcass, feel free. I am sure that Olin will find plenty of marrow in the bones still. For the record, I spend much of my working day at the UNIX commandline (AIX/Solaris/Linux/etc.), and I like it a lot. Which is one of the reasons I hate the *DOS* prompt. I avoid it like the plague.
