Perhaps there is a language problem here. Here we mean power as in current times voltage or RPM times torque or force times velocity, etc. Bel is NOT just log10. It was a term coined to describe, in a numerically compact way, the several orders of magnitude of signal attenuation one could see over long lengths of cable. deciBel is just 1/10th of that, but has come to dominate since it is a more convenient unit (it gives a more appropriate level of resolution with needing digits to the right of the decimal point) Sean On Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 9:18 AM, Virchanza wrote: > Do you mean power as in "2 to the power of 4 is 16", or power as in > "current multiplied by voltage gives power"? > > -- > http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive > View/change your membership options at > http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist > -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
