A few years ago ST had a wonderful chip called the ST5730. Alas, ST dropped it. If you can find one of these floating around, you can do it with a PIC16F??? and the ST5730 and a few support chips. Would cost about $25 USD. --Bob On 1/16/09, Kayode Ayandokun wrote: > Matthew, > > I suggest you visit http://www.pic-osd.com and have a look at the > systems there that do exactly what you want. > An example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oxy2QD8v8M > > Alternatively they also sell boards and example source code if you want > to take the DIY route. > > Kayode. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Matthew Mucker" > To: "'Microcontroller discussion list - Public.'" > Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2009 11:33 AM > Subject: [EE] Video Character Overlay > > >>I am looking for a portable, battery-powered solution that will allow me to >> overlay text on an NTSC video stream under microprocessor control. >> >> I'm planning an outdoor trek with a helmet-cam and would like to stamp GPS >> coordinates on top of the live video. >> >> I don't care if I build or buy a solution, but I'd lean toward building, >> especially if it can save me some money. >> >> I'd certainly be interested in hearing about any solutions that might be >> on >> the market.
