I'm a career electronics technician, where I currently build and troubleshoot the engineering prototypes for my company. In order to obtain relief from working under magnification assembling surface mount electronics, I build and service vacuum tube equipment as a hobby. I also play the guitar, and enjoy building my own amps (tube and solid state) as well as effects pedals, etc. I have the hardware down pat. Building and wiring circuits is second nature to me. Now I'm trying to add a bit of programming experience to the mix. I'm just old enough at 45 that I didn't see the total merger of computer technology with electronics, so I never bothered to study any programming languages. Now that I want to mix the old and new myself - Nixie or VFD clocks, frequency counters, etc, I need to learn some assembly and C to complete the tasks I want to do.
