I recently had a problem with a monitor, and when I wanted to get a service manual from the manufacturer (LG), they told me "no way", without giving a reason. No problem, because I could get it from one of these manual sites in Russia and Panama, but it really pissed me off. OTOH, it probably didn't piss me off enough to not buy an LG monitor next time, if it's the best product for the price and what I want -- I always can get the manuals through the back door :) They must know this, so I wonder what they think they gain by not making service manuals available... they already have them. They just create some (even if minimal) piss-factor without gaining anything. With less expensive items I wouldn't expect to get a schematic.
