Well I live in Brisbane, applied for a contract job in Wellington and 
blithely said i can fly over if they wish to interview me.

Now from Brisbane to Auckland, Virgin/Pacific Blue have 2 flights a 
day with flight times of about 3  hrs 10 mins.

They also have two flights a day to Wellington - except one could 
choose - depart Bris 9 :15 a.m. arrive Auckland 15:25 wait until 19:45 
and arrive Wellingotn at 20:45 or leave at 6pm and arrive the next day 
just before 1am, but the route that gets me is the one that flies Bris 
to Auck to Christchurch and then Wellington, the flight planners must 
have had a laugh when they devised that one.. 

Yet the return flight is always direct Wellington - Brisbane, and Air 
NZ isn't much better, though you do get very nice cutlery, so nice I 
have a draw full of good quality plastic knives forks spoons- ideal 
for picnics. 

Hmm, no cheap seats in January either hmmph.
