The extended desktop behaves well enough with programs displaying there if placed there and otherwise accessing the primary display. When there is nothing else to do with the secondary display (not of course that that ever actually happens) I like to put a random slideshow on the secondary monitor so I can be distracted by memories of the places I have been to while I try and work :-).
